Navratri, or ‘The Festival of Nine Nights’, is celebrated during the first nine days of the Hindu month of Ashwin (September-October). Navratri is celebrated in different ways in different parts of India. This festival is dedicated to worship Mother Goddess or Shakti and her nine forms. The nine days are equally divided in worshiping three goddesses. The first three days are dedicated to Goddess Durga. The next three days for worshipping goddess Lakshmi and the last three days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. Dussehra (means the tenth day of Ashwin) marks the end of Navratri, the festival of nine nights. Dussehra is also known as Vijayadashmi (Victory of Durga Mata over Mahishasur). It marks the victory of truth over evil.
I wish you all and your family a Happy Dussehra! 🙂
